Brooke Tatnell, A Look Back

Welcome to one of the fastest & most Prestigous names in motorsport.

The legendary legacy of Tatnell Motorsports has become sin ominous with the sport of Australian speedway for over 40 years. When George, brother Joe & cousins Gary & Bobby first burst onto the speedway scene in 1958 at famous venues such as Windsor, Westmead & the granddaddy of all the Sydney Showgrounds driving stockcars, nobody could have imagined the dynasty that would eventually create history in world oval track racing.

From such humbling beginnings of working tow trucks around the clock through the week before pulling the motor out of the tow truck to place into Georges racecar to race on Sunday afternoon. Following the meeting they would return to the Highway Service Station on Sunday night to put the motor back into the work truck to be ready for work on Monday morning, to the motorsport mecca that is Tatnell Motorsports. George has always been a charismatic, walking advertisement for the sport of Australian Speedway, who’s contribution is there for all to see.

During his illustrious career, Gorgeous George as he was affectionately known achieved everything that the sport has to offer including 2 World Series Sprintcar Championship & four victories in National Championships becoming the first person in history to win National Crowns in both sprintcars & midgets. George has also been credited with introducing multi national companies into speedway through his unprecedented level of professionalism & marketing prowess.

On December 26th 1987 George’s 16year old son Brooke took to the same dirt tracks that his father had carved out a legendary reputation. Since that first squeeze of the right foot at Liverpool speedway in Sydney’s outer west, Brooke has overcome adversity to become Australia’s most successful speedway export. Along the way Brooke has carved out his own page in history with victories in:

  • 3 - National Championships in concession

  • 5 - World Series Championships

  • 13- State & track Championships

  • 3 - NCRA Championships in the USA

  • Victories with the World of Outlaws,
The toughest racing series in the world.

  • Winningest driver in World Series Sprintcar history

  • Fastest driver to ever circulate the famed Knoxville Raceway.

Despite winning over two hundred sprintcar races & championships in his career, what is more important is that the personality that is Brooke Tatnell has become one of the most popular & personal drivers at any racetrack around the globe.

In 2006 despite missing several rounds of the World of Outlaws Championship due to traveling back to Australia to spend time with his father George who was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, Brooke & the Rush Racing Team finished an impressive 5th in the championship.

Season 2007 Tatnell lead the charge with crew chief Troy Renfro to take the newly formed Larry Woodward Racing Volcano Joes Coffee black deuce back onto the World of Outlaws Championship tour with two victory's and a impressive seventh place at the Knoxville Nationals
